    Post Sum Hours

So I'm trying to add up all hours for each job, then be able to call up any job via drop down and have to automatically add up the hours for said job. Attached is an example of the sheet, where it says "AUGUST22" on the right that's where the dropdown is, I would also like the drop down to be alphabetized and have no repeats in it.

    Re: Sum Hours

i think the links are broken - so nothing on the dropdown, not sure what jobs you want sum()

    maybe provide some examples
then be able to call up any job via drop down and have to automatically add up the hours for said job.
that should simply be a SUMIF() or SUMIFS() from what you have said

I would also like the drop down to be alphabetized and have no repeats in it.
I cannot see this , maybe because of links

you maybe able to sort() ,filter() , unique to get the dropdown as
alphabetized and have no repeats in it
but without a full sample sheet i cannot help here - sorry

A good sample workbook has just 10-20 rows of representative data that has been desensitised. It also has expected results mocked up, relevant cells highlighted and a few explanatory notes.

Here are the instructions, found at the top of the page again
Post a small Excel sheet (not a picture) showing realistic & representative sample data WITHOUT confidential information (10-20 rows, not thousands...) and some manually calculated results. For a new thread (1st post), scroll to Manage Attachments, otherwise scroll down to GO ADVANCED, click, and then scroll down to MANAGE ATTACHMENTS and click again. Now follow the instructions at the top of that screen.

    Re: Sum Hours

Add a "TOTAL HOURS" column in your data table, then do a PivotTable with "WORK ORDER ID" in Filters area and "TOTAL HOURS" in Values area.

    Re: Sum Hours

Thank you, good call on the pivot table, I did something like that already but not with a pivot. I was hoping to not have to add another column. I guess I could just hide the extra column, is there a way to get rid of it completely though?

    Re: Sum Hours

    Try this:

    =SUMPRODUCT((Table9[WORK ORDER ID]=G3)*((Table9[TIME
    FINISH])-Table9[TIME
    START]))

Custom format the cell as [hh]:mm.

Yes, create the "TOTAL HOURS" as a calculated field.
