    RANK. stars at wrong number

    Rank.jpg

I am using rank to inform of the winning scores for the back 9 and full 18 hole scores, but I want to add in a countback in case of a draw.

I'm well used to using RANK and cannot understand why it's not starting at 1 and working upwards with the scores.

    =RANK(BD8,$BD$8:$BD$164,0)

I want to rank column BD from rows 8 to 164.

    See attached image.

    Thanking everybody in advance.

    Hi there.

A picture is worth 1,000 words. An Excel sheet is worth 1,000 non-editable pictures.

Please read the yellow banner about sample worksheets, at the top of the screen. Act on its guidelines and post a SMALL sample sheet complete with an explanation and some expected results.

    My apologies!!

It's a full page I'm afraid with lots of hidden lines, so I cannot copy and paste a section, so I have separated the sheet and attached it

I had hoped that all would become clear when I saw your sheet. But that didn't quite happen.

The hidden rows in BD also contain values, they are being included in the ranking. Is that that the problem??

A total guess, as the description is not clear:

    =COUNTIFS($B$8:$B$164,">0",$BD$8:$BD$164,">"&BD8)+1

    Hi Glenn

Many thanks, that seems to have done it.

Also Conditional Formatting does work on those columns either.
