Question How can I stop excel overwrite my formula?

    Hello!

I have a spreadsheet in worksheet 1 that is referenced in worksheet 2 in the same excel file.
    I'm using this formula:
    =('2015től'!M5:M1028)
The problem is when I insert a new row in the original spreadsheet in worksheet 1, my referenced spreadsheet in worksheet 2 is not including the new row, instead it is changing the formula to:
    =('2015től'!M6:M1029)
How can I insert a new row that excel include in the referred spreadsheet?

    Thanks

There are a couple of ways. First if you create a new row inbetween M6 and M1028 it will automatically change your range and include this data. It just can't be a brand new 1st row. Thats why its always best to add new rows at the bottom of your data.
You can also make your data in M5:M1028 a table and just reference the table in your original formula so that when a new table row is added, it will automatically be referenced.

It must be a completely new row, on the top, unfortunately. Is it possible?

I think I got a solution after your comment, if I just insert a so-called filler row, and insert the new row below that, that might help. Thanks

I suggest making the data a table with a header. then reference the table with your formula.

i guess its hard to see without actually seeing your problem in a sample workbook. I indcluded a spreadsheet with a simple table and a simple reference to it. ANytime i add a new row at the top it adds it to the table and my formula references the table and automatically updates to include it.

Re: How can I stop excel overwrite my formula?

I see, it would work, but unfortunately there is a spreadsheet next to the original spreadsheet which is also getting data from it, and it is not working together, but I think I can do it on more worksheet than 1. Thank you for your help
