    Absolute external workbook reference

    New to forum.

I am having issues with excel changing the the path of my external workbook references. I receive prelim and final schedules from 4 different sections and have a workbook linked to each. When I open a linked workbook and save it as a different name the path in my link changes.

    example of linked external reference ='\\coleepz\MACRO BED\Contract Info\Final Contract\[IFF Weekly Final Contract.xlsx]Contract'!$B$26

If I save the IFF Weekly Final Contract with a different name (IFF.xlsx) the linked reference changes and I need it to stay the same.

    It changes to: \\coleepz\MACRO BED\Contract Info\This week contract\[IFF.xlsx]Contract'!$B$26

I have tried mapping drives to create an absolute path, defined name, absolute cell reference, and nothing works. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

    RJ

    Re: Absolute external workbook reference

Thanks for the reply. When using indirect and I close the referenced workbook I get the #REF! error.
