Combining properties of objects from two tables (hard to explain, but examples within!)

    Hello,

I have a very large-scale version of the following:

I have one table which has various objects (in this case, links) and different properties that they have. Here is a simplified version:

    1.png

I then have another table that has many of the same objects (most overlap, but table 2 may include some objects not in table 1 and vice versa). Here is an example:

    2.png

You can see here there is "E" which has a value for Property 3, and this item doesn't exist in the original table. Similarly, object "D" doesn't exist in table 2.

I want to combine them like this:

    3.png

Basically, combine the tables so that all of the information corresponds in this way. The actual tables I am using have something like 8 thousand rows so obviously I can't do it manually. This doesn't seem computationally complicated, so I assume there is a way to do it with formulas, but I am not able to figure it out on my own.

    Thanks!

Hi persimmonlover: Welcome to the forum.

Without an attachment, it can be difficult to try.

I found this though that might help:

Thanks! I ended up figuring it out well enough with regular VLOOKUP in a way that worked for my applicatioan.

Please share your solution for the benefit of others. Ideally, please upload a sample workbook.
