Formula that add score to the existing one according to one or more variables

    Good afternoon,
I would need your help to find the right formula for the attached spreadsheet.
I need basically to see how a score change according to the selection of one or more variables.
In the example provided in the attached file, If the country selected is Spain, Germany or France, the score at E11 should be added by 20. (e.g. if instead of Norway I put Spain, the total score should be 27 (20+the current score of Germany Italy and UK) OTHERWISE the sum remain as it is (10).
Thank you in advance for your help.
    Best,
    Andry

Which version of Excel do you have?

If the country selected is Spain, Germany or France, the score at E11 should be added by 20. (e.g. if insteady of Norway I put Spain, the total score should be 27 (20+the current score of Germany Italy and UK) OTHERWISE the sum remain as it is (10)
What does this mean? Added by? Please provide a workbook that contains multiple examples of variations to illustrate what you mean. One isn't enough.

Please check - your Excel version is important as newer versions have a lot more functions. Please look under File | Account in Excel.

I need you to explain in much more detail what you are trying to do. I can make no sense of your workbook - sorry.

Re: Formula that add score to the existing one according to one or more variables

So basically I need to calculate the total score from a list of countries if certain countries such as Spain, Germany of France listed in the example, are being selected. In that case the total score will be increased by 20 points. for example, if I select Germany, since I want the total score will increase by 20, the new score will be 20 + the other score countries (10+20)
One selection from the listed countries in the right will be enough to increase the total score by 20. so even in the case that Spain, Germany and France are being selected, the increase to the total score will be just 20 point.

In post #2 I said this:

What does this mean? Added by? Please provide a workbook that contains multiple examples of variations to illustrate what you mean. One isn't enough.
So far, you have failed to provide more examples. Visuals are more helpful than text. Please prepare a workbook with a few possible outcomes.

Re: Formula that add score to the existing one according to one or more variables

The Excel file hasn't changed. I am asking you to add several more scenarios so that I can see how outcomes will change.

I did previously explained in the box
But I have said repeatedly that I don't follow your explanation, so it's not enough. Provide multiple examples in the workbook and I'll have another look. If you don't, then there's nothing I can do to help you. You'll have to wait for someone who understands your explanation.

I cannot manage to attach the file here. could you please let guide me? thank you
Same as you did before - look at the yellow banner at the top of the page.

Re: Formula that add score to the existing one according to one or more variables

The attachment has NOT changed, Andry. If it had, then there would be a note in the bottom left of the opening post saying that the post had been edited, by whom and when.

I still only have ONE visual example of what you want. You have failed to give me more than one scenario despite my asking repeatedly for you to do so. It's nothing to do with patience: it is simply that you are not giving me what I need to help you.

I am sorry, but unless I see more visual examples, I am not going to be able to help you.

Good luck with getting a solution.

At last something that is clear!

    Try this:

    =SUM(E6:E9)+IF(SUM(COUNTIF(D6:D9,G6:G8))>0,20,0)

    or this:

    =SUM(E6:E9)+IF(SUM(COUNTIF(D6:D9,G6:G8))>0,H6,0)

Thank you Ali, the formula it seems working
it would be possible to replace the ranges (E6:E9) with specific cells as in my original spreadsheet the country fields are not in a list but in different cells so I have to select cells one by one

Well, that is completely different! Sorry, but I don't have time for this right now, but I will say this: Excel cannot identify cells by their colour, so you will have to identify the rows to be included in a different way.

    Good luck!

Yes Ali, I was refering to the colors just to clarify that not all specific countris from all selections have that conditions but only those selection coming from the cells highlighted in yellow. Maybe the formula is similar to the one you provided, with the difference that those specific countires requiring the score increasing are included in the drop downs menu

This proposal employs helper cells in column B which are populated using: =OR(E25=G$6,E25=G$7,E25=G$8)
Note that the helper cells may be moved and/or hidden for aesthetic purposes.
The formula in cell G36 is: =SUM(SUMPRODUCT((F24:F36)*(100)),IF(COUNTIFS(B25:B34,TRUE),20,0))
Let us know if you have any questions.
Edit: Perhaps a more understandable formula: =SUM(SUM(F24:F36)*100,IF(COUNTIFS(B25:B34,TRUE),20,0))

Re: Formula that add score to the existing one according to one or more variables

Looking at the file it appears that whether or not a restricted country is listed in the blue cells "the normal sum of column F applies".
If that isn't the case then please inform us what the value should be if no restricted country is listed.
Otherwise the helper column (C) formula could be: =COUNTIFS(A$9:A$15,E10)
The formula for cell G21 could be: =IF(SUM(C10:C21)>0,100,SUM(F9:F21)*100)
Let us know if you have any questions.

Exactly, in case the restricted country appears in the blue cells there is no condition and the normal sum applies.
In case the restricted country appear in one of the yellow cells the value in G21 is automatically 100
    Thank you
