    Need help with formula

    Hello all,

I am using the following formula to return the max for a date range by group. The formula works fine but I need it to only return the value for the max date by person and a blanks for remaining cells that meet the same criteria. I want the output to be blank in Q2 and Q3 and only show the max on Q3 since those entries are for the same person/same day.

    =IF(MAXIFS($Y$2:$Y$500,$S$2:$S$500,S2,$A$2:$A$500,A2),SUMIFS($Y$2:$Y$500,$S$2:$S$500,$S2,$A$2:$A$500,$A2),"")

    Re: Need help with formula

Hi and welcome to the forum

Pictures are of little value. Honestly, no one wants to re-type your data to try and solve your issue. Additionally, we would only be guessing at how your data was structured, ie. formulas, formatting, etc. Additionally, due to how some browsers behave, many of our members cannot see uploaded pictures/images. Please do not take this route.

Please attach a sample file that represents what you have. The structure of your attachment should be the same structure as your actual data. Any proprietary information should be changed.

Include in the attachment any code you're currently using (whether it works or not) and an "After" of what you wish the output to be.

To attach a file to your post,
click advanced (next to quick post),
scroll down until you see "manage file",
click that and select "add files" (top right corner).
click "select files" find your file, click "open" click "upload" click 'done" bottom right. click "submit reply"

Once the upload is completed the file name will appear below the input boxes in this window.
You can then close the window to return to the new post screen.

I am a bit confused. Trying to reverse engineer your formula. Instead, explain in simple English terms what you are trying to do. Also, it would be helpful if you showed us a manually mocked up solution so that we understand clearly what your objective is.

    Re: Need help with formula

In the file attached I improved some of your other formulas and made your table a named table what will make your calculations faster since it only looks for the rows with data, the formulas also are easier to read and the formatting follows the expansion of the table, so no more need to format all column what also increase the size of your file.
To add a new row go to the right bottom of the table and press [TAB].
