Question Need Dynamic Calendar that starts on a date in another cell & shows next 4 weeks

Okay, so I've asked AI this question, and I keep getting formulas that simply don't work. So it's time to ask humans that still have the advantage over AI.

I am trying to create a dynamic calendar that populates based on a given date in another cell, and only showing the next four weeks after that date, and only the weekdays. I would like the date value from the source cell to automatically "land" on the right day of the week in the first week of the dynamic calendar, and display date values accordingly for the rest of the calendar.

The file I'm attaching has the layout where I have the source date and desired output dates where I need them to be so that any help I get will automatically reference the correct cells in my actual working file.

Can someone please help me with this? As I said, AI keeps providing solutions that simply aren't working, and I've wasted more than two hours on trying to figure out what's going wrong.

    Thanks in advance!

By having merged cells you are seriously complicating matters. I cannot see that theya er really necessary for what you need.

Re: Need Dynamic Calendar that starts on a date in another cell & shows next 4 weeks

It's more for readability than anything else, since I cannot adjust the row height of the cells without impacting data to the left of the calendar. If this has a significant impact on the formulas used to do what needs done in this situation, I can forego the desire to have the dates returned in a merged cell...

Unmerge the cells and try this in J22:

Revised to provide correct feedback. Originally I was getting a spill error because of previous attempts at formulas still living in destination cells; corrected. Now, I'm getting a different result - screen shot attached.Screenshot 2024-03-09 at 3.18.46 PM.png

Re: Need Dynamic Calendar that starts on a date in another cell & shows next 4 weeks

So I ended up solving this myself, using extremely simple - but effective - logic. No need for complicated formulas when it was broken down to its simplest form.

Once I established the base formula for the first week which determines which day of the week the first date (pulled from $B$6) falls on, it was a simple matter of determining what to do in the remaining 4 weekday cells. The next 4 weeks is nothing more than adding the appropriate number of days to the previous date.

Again this may not be the super-intelligent way to do it, but it achieves the exact desired results, AND eliminates the restriction on being able to display the calendar dates in merged cells. Sometimes simplicity, though not elegant, is still best.

OK. A ‘thank you’ might have been nice, even though my effort to assist has been deemed over-engineered.

Maybe if you were a little less hostile in your interactions with people you're trying to help...just a thought.

Hostile in what way? I offered you help - I pointed out a potential problem - I gave you a solution. No hostility - just assistance.

Re: Need Dynamic Calendar that starts on a date in another cell & shows next 4 weeks

Your scathing sarcasm at not receiving what you would deem proper gratitude for your solitary effort on this one is only the most recent indication that you have thinly-veiled contempt for users that are not at your level of knowledge and experience. You've nitpicked my posts almost since I joined this forum, and condescended in several of your remarks to those posts. I respect the fact that a) you're obviously SUPER-knowledgeable when it comes to Excel (and probably many other things, as well) and b) you're a moderator on this forum. But above and beyond that, it's clear there's a bit of a power dynamic in play here, which makes me wonder why you continue to moderate and help on a forum such as this if you're not getting any personal feeling of pride at helping people solve issues they're struggling with on their own - without making them feel stupid in the process.

I get that many people come on and demonstrate a complete lack of regard to the forum rules, simply wanting something for nothing, and do little to contribute to the solutions to their own problems, let alone help others with theirs. But Ma'am, I am clearly not one of those people. My first couple of posts here received very helpful replies from other moderators and users, and then, for some reason, I managed to draw your attention, at which point I was consistently corrected, chastised, etc. for posts that otherwise no one was objecting to.

I even asked a followup question about how to go about securing paid services, and that received no reply at all, so I trudged on, working on the very same project, up to this very minute - determined to, one way or another, make this confounded thing work somewhat close to how I want/need it to without bothering the people here very often in the process.

You state you're confused about my previous statement, and I, too, am confused by how you've responded to nearly all of my recent posts, and reading through some of your replies to others, it's not isolated to strictly me - you're pretty abrasive. I don't expect puppies and gumdrops to drip from interactions on here, but I also don't expect to walk away feeling condescended and worse-off than I was when I reached out for help on here in the first place...
