    titles association with by-products

    good morning to the forum.
I have some items eg drawer mechanism 1, 2 etc. drawer mechanism 1 consists of eg 4 different parts. what I want is: with drop dwon menu to select drawer 1 and to display in different cells the 4 components associated with drawer 1 or whatever I choose.
my problem is i don't even know how to look it up to find a solution..
even a youtube search guide would help me.
I have attached a random example, what I am interested in is the result in the box (shown in the excel example)
    Thanks in advance.

    Welcome to the forum.

Are you really using the old Excel 2010?

Remove ALL expected answers, then in I3:

    =LET(f,FILTER(B3:C9,A3:A9=G3),CHOOSE({1,2},INDEX(f,,1),INDEX(f,,2)*H3))

    and in I7:

    =LET(f,FILTER(B3:C9,A3:A9=G7),CHOOSE({1,2},INDEX(f,,1),INDEX(f,,2)*H7))

If that takes care of your original question, please choose Thread Tools from the menu link above and mark this thread as SOLVED. You can also access the SOLVED tag by editing the opening post and choosing SOLVED from the drop-down to the left of the title box.

    Re: titles association with by-products

    1. This bears little resemblance to the original file.
    2. You have NOT manually mocked up your expected results.
    3. You have not EXPLAINED what the problem is (other than giving me a non-working formula).

    More detail, please ...

Is there any likelihood of your upgrading to 365?

    1. I meant: the old sample file doesn't look much like the new one.
    2. Yes, I get that.
    3. Thanks - that's now clear. I'm sorry, I don't think I can assist with this at the moment. I'll remove the SOLVED tag - somebody else will jump in, I am sure.

    Work for Ex2010 or newer
Formula based solution then its quite long and complex
    Using VBA is better solution.

Not if you don't understand VBA. VBA is not 'better' - it's a different approach, and some people will not want to use it.

    These formulae are compact enough.

With this type of data, I anticipate that the actual data will have a very large number of rows, and if there are many more rows of conditions, I fear that complex formulas will slow down processing speed
Anyway, think of VBA code, in near future.

No, thank you - I have no need for it. It's on its way out, anyway - not supported in Excel Online. I suggest you start learning Office Scripts code.
