Arrow Need assistance combining two tools

    Hi there team!

I need assistance making Excel do what i need it to. this requires the operations of 2 tasks to work in tandem, which i can not figure out how to do.

I have a drop down list for the types of indicators i use
I have a drop down list for the types of System Models I use
I have some System Models that use pre-determined Indicators, and some that can pick and choose.

I would like a default indicator from the dropdown menu to populate based on the system I choose, but still allow me to change the selection on systems that need it (or all if easier)

I use Vlookup to auto populate my cells based on a dropdown selection
I use Indirect to make an Indicator drop down based on the System Model Dropdown.

I am hoping to find a way to combine the two that will allow functionality to manually override the selection of Vlookup

If more information is required, i will do my best, though i just started using Excel recently. thank you for all of your assistance and patience.

You would need a formula to suggest a default value in a cell. However, if you manually override the formula, you woul lose the formula for good.

You would need VBA to do what you want.

Thanks for the prompt reply TMS,

I don't think i need to override the formula.

I just need it to default to one of the options in my dropdown list (Composed via Indirect (Group Name) via data validation) based on a selection of another dropdown list in a different cell using Vlookup.
If i then just change the selection of the drop down that Indirect gives me after that, then would i be able to do this without Visual Basic?

    Thanks again! =)

AFAIK, there is no way of doing that.

    Thanks for the rep.
