Cross reference data in 2 columns, time and shift

    Hi there,

I put together an example of a spreadsheet where i would like to have automatic updates as new information is inputted. On tab 1 will be where i update the information, and on tab 2 i would like to have 3 separate data boxes, 1. to list injuries by shift. 2. injury by hire date and finally data that shows injuries on shift 1 under 6months, 6months-1year and then everything over 1 year..... this would continue for shifts 2 and 3 as well.

I can't seem to figure out what formula to use, or maybe i am not writing it correctly.

    See example workbook.

Column B has no header. Does this represent the number of reported injuries? Or something else?

I am confused. If Column B represents the number of months of service, then does each line represent one injury? and then for this particular report, there have been 35 total injuries? How does the mocked up table on sheet 2 in cells B3:E9 relate to the sample data in sheet1?

Re: Cross reference data in 2 columns, time and shift

In this particular mockup, each line in sheet1 is for an incident, sheet 2 B3:E9 represents the days since the last incident for each dept, per shift...

What is the box in B3:E9? It doesn't seem to be one of the three things you asked for but I added a pivot table to do this anyway.

    1. COUNTIF
    2. COUNTIF & COUNTIFS
    3. COUNTIFS. Also includes totals by shift & length of service so you don't need a separate table for #1 and #2.
