    How to present multiplication result

How do I multiply two figures (for a square cm), then take that result and round to a rate, which I would use to calculate $ value.

    Example:
    114 x 84 = 9576 sq
    114 x 84 x 96 (from the above) = $920 (and rounded to no decimal place)

Hope that makes sense. Thank you.

Re: How to present multiplication result

    Maybe:

    =ROUND(114*84*96,0)

Or just use currency formatting with decimal places set to 0.

Re: How to present multiplication result

Thanks AliGW... I tried the formula: =ROUND(A2*B2*(A2*B2),0), but the result is weird coming out as 91699776. I was hoping something close to $96 as a result... but must be way out on how someone has calculated their value.

Re: How to present multiplication result

Ali proposed a solution with 3 different values ( thus three cells). What you used are two values squared ? What are A2, B2, etc.. A small sample would shed some light

Re: How to present multiplication result

Yes, as mentioned above, workbook, please.

As advised in the yellow banner at the top of this page, providing a sample workbook is a good idea.

HOW TO ATTACH YOUR SAMPLE WORKBOOK: Fast answers need clear examples. Post a small Excel sheet (not a picture) showing realistic & representative sample data WITHOUT confidential information (10-20 rows, not thousands) and some manually calculated results. For a new thread (1st post), scroll to Manage Attachments, otherwise scroll down to GO ADVANCED, click, and then scroll down to MANAGE ATTACHMENTS and click again. Now follow the instructions at the top of that screen. Screenshots are of little practical use as we cannot manipulate them.

A good sample workbook has just 10-20 rows of representative data that has been desensitised. The sample layout accurately matches that of your real data. It also has expected results mocked up, worked examples where required, relevant cells highlighted and a few explanatory notes.

Re: How to present multiplication result

This will get the (unfathomable, to me!) result you want:

    =ROUNDUP((A2*B2*ROUND((A2*B2)/100,0))/1000,0)

Re: How to present multiplication result

Many thanks for the help... not sure how to attach the spreadsheet (if someone can tell me how to)... but here is the data:

Art Calculator for painting on canvas

    Side A
    114

    Side B
    84

    Square cm
    9576 (A3*B3)

    $ value per sq cm
    95.76 (C3/100)

Re: How to present multiplication result

Read post #5 again, please - I explained how to attach a workbook in detail there.

Based on the above, I now have no idea what the issue is.

    =A3*B3/100

    ???

    I must be doing something wrong... got a fatal error Fatal error: Declaration of vB_DataManager_ThreadRate_Multiple::fetch_query($condition, $limit = 0, $offset = 0) must be compatible with vB_DataManager_Multiple::fetch_query($condition = '', $limit = 0, $offset = 0) in /home/eforum/public_html/includes/class_dm_threadrate.php on line 290

Re: How to present multiplication result

No, you didn't upload anything - I did. It's not your workbook, it's mine.

    Glad to have helped.
