Function displayed instead of result

I'm trying to use the RIGHT function to display the rightmost 2 characters of a cell formatted as text.

For example cell A1 contains 0:30 ( or 30 seconds). I need to convert that to minutes, so I'm using the RIGHT function to "pull out" only the seconds with RIGHT(A1,2) in cell B1. Instead cell B1 displays =RIGHT(A1,2), even though when I use the fx button to enter the formula, it tells me the formula result is 30.

Any ideas?

You may need to make sure the cell your formula is in isn't formatted in text. If it is, you'll only see the formula. If you change the cell format and it still gives you the formula text, hit F2 in the cell the enter. Hopefully that'll take care of it.
