hi all.

how to count the number for each name who has the same character with the clue blue shading.

please, see attaching file..

any assistance will be appreciated

Hi there. use this:

=SUMPRODUCT(--(C7:M7=$C$5:$M$5))

BtW, your example answer for the first row - should it not have been 7??

c4=countif(C7:C16,C5) and drag to the right.
