Let’s say that I have a dropdown validation box, it contains the following list of sports cars; Ferrari, Lamborghini and Porsche. I also have another validation dropdown box, it contains a list of colours. The validation lists are repeated many times across the spreadsheet.
At the foot of the spreadsheet is a COUNTIF formula that counts the number of times that each manufacturer appears, which is fine for Lamborghini and Porsche, but I also want to know the colour of the Ferraris.
I need a formula in cell A3 that says, when cell A1 = Ferrari, look at cell A2 and display the colour, in addition, I also the colours to be totalled. For example, cell A4 uses my COUNTIF formula then cell B4 says, Red = 10, Blue = 5 and Black 1.
Does that sound sensible, or am I going about this completely the wrong way? Also, can I specify that only text in uppercase can be used across the workbook?
