Unhappy Excel formula update automation off

Hi: I am needing to keep Excel from automaticlly updating my formula when the current information in the cell is moved down. I need the Reference to the cell to stay. Example; Inventory! $A$2 to stay Inventory! $A$2 even when the original data in the cell is moved to Inventory!A3. Using absolute references is useless in this case. Help!!!
    Thanks

XL is designed to be bolted to a cell in Cut&Pate mode. Try use Copy&Pate instead. Either Copy&Paste the value-cell or remove the $ from the formula-cell and copy it away, move the value-cell, then copy back the formula-cell.

Or, if it's just the calculation that should be turned off - Tools>Options>Calculations>Manual.
