latest date & project records

hi

can excel find the latest report date for my projects?

for each project i receive several reports - each entered as a line in the ssheet.

is there a way to get a summary table which gives me each project name & the last report date?

Try the following...

1) Enter your list of projects in a column, let's say Column C

2) Enter the following array formula in D1 and copy down:

=MAX(IF(ProjectRange=C1,DateRange))

...confirmed with CONTROL+SHIFT+ENTER, not just ENTER.

You can get a list of unique project names by using Advanced Filter...

Data > Filter > Advanced Filter > check 'Unique records only'
