Trying to write a formula that can insert colour into a cell

Im trying to write a formula that will colour fill a cell when a certain word from a list is selected, is this possible ??

    I have attached an example

If you go to the worksheet marked 1st.

I would like to be able to do the following

If you go to cell B1 and select the word conference off the list I would like to have cells B15,C15, D15, E15, F15, H15 to be filled with the colour yellow.

    Can this be done ??

Select all the cells you want to color, then go to Format > Conditional Formatting
Select formula is in the drop-down, and enter the following formula in the box:
    =$B$1="conference"
Click on format button, patterns tab, and select the yellow color. Click ok, and try entering the word conference in cell B1

Select the required cell, click on Insert > Hyperlink. Browse to the required folder and select the required excel file. Click on bookmark to select a particular sheet. Click ok.

    Hi Melben,
Isn't this the same problem you posted earlier? And isn't this the same solution I suggested earlier? Double posting with no appreciation is very rude.

    Spog00,
My sincere apologies, I could not locate my last posting and as I dont have it set to send me an email I had no chance of thanking you for your help, by no means did I intend to be rude.

    Hi Melben,

It is very easy to locate your own posts. Just click on your own user_name which is a link. And then click on the link 'view all posts by melben'.
