why won't EDATE function work in Excel?

I can't seem to get this function to work. Even the example from the Office
website is returning a #NAME? error. Help?

EDATE function is part of Analysis ToolPak add-in, you get #NAME? error if it isn't installed.

    To install

Tools > Addins > tick Analysis ToolPak box
