    Getting the whole recipe

    Hello Guys,

I am facing a query for some time, I need your assistance in sorting this out.

I maintain recipe given by kitchen dept in order for cost control.

Pls see the attached file for the way i maintain the recipe info.

Now this recipe are presented in terms on item name and ingredients mentioned as the usage pattern.

However they are represented by an unique item code on the left side

It is very difficult to sort recipe based on the their unique item code.

Some time there is a requirement of only 50 recipes, it means the complete recipe, with all ingredients, not one ingredient of the recipes.

Thus it becomes very difficult to go in the complete file and remove each items, esp when there are more than 1000 recipes like this.

So, we need to remove all the recipe one by one. it almost take a day to compile a report

However, I have a method that I can collect the code of all these items, as they are all unique.(highlighted in color)

Is there some formula or macros, possible where i can just type in the item codes and all the recipe will appear in the output sheet.

    Kindly assist.

    Best Regards

    Re: Getting the whole recipe

I'm not seeing any recipe database to extract from!

Also, with your recipes "coded" it is difficult to determine what it is you type in and what is automatically returned as a result.

    Re: Getting the whole recipe

@ jhren, The recipe database is the ingredients cost & its prices and all

The codes in attached examples are as follows
    SA005
    SA010
    AM150
    AM010

The query is when i put this database in the result file and say use macro. it will return the result and say this are the complete recipes (ingredients cost sheet) that is already there in the sheet

1006,1015 are the ingredients used in the recipe. that has to be extracted.

I have kept an image of the recipe and added an excel sheet of output and input sheet

    Thanks for your reply..

    Re: Getting the whole recipe

If you want the result looking exactly like Total Recipe sheet, probably best to use macro (VBA). Repost over on the VBA forum if so.

I'm mostly saying that because I noticed one of the recipes only had 10 rows while the others had 11. You could go either way if they were all of the same size, and the results area was border, color preformatted.
