Need Function to Compare two columns

Okay, here's what I've got. I have one inventory spreadsheet with about 4,000 lines worth of data. I have another inventory spreadsheet containing about 2,200 lines of data. There are two columns of the first spreadsheet that matter; asset number and description. The second spreadsheet will be compared to the first by asset number. What formulas will do the comparison for me?

Thanks. Write me if you need more info.

You can use the formula VLOOKUP().

One reference to its use is: http://www.contextures.com/xlFunctions02.html
