count number of dates after filtering

    hi helpers,

Please assist me. I am a novice. I have a date column filtered. After filtering, i want to count number of dates there. If i put a count() function, it will count all inclusive of all those filtered one too.

I also want to get rid of those blank cell and - sign on filter column to really look at those with date only. how can i write a simple function to do this?

    Thanks
    Brendan

    Hi,

This should count the visible filtered values

    =SUBTOTAL(3,A:A)

You can filter using non blanks.

Not sure what the -sign is. Can you select the column and press Ctrl + G ad replace - with nothing

Is the -sign on another column of the filtered data i.e. zero values formatted to Accountancy, that produces a - sign in the column

    Hi,

Thanks! It works! I am so happy! However, I realized that because this is a date column, so the moment you apply this subtotal function on it, you will have to format the cell to number instead of date....otherwise, it turns out to be date instead of number!

About '-' sign? instead of putting it blank, usually people put a 'dash' sign there. I think your suggestion is good, replace with 'blank' would be better, at a very least, just do another round of filtering on 'blank' or perhaps count blank.

    Thanks!
