Selecting from drop down dependant on cell value

    Hi,

I have a spreadsheet with (roughly) this data in it:

That was put together in a bit of a hurry so apologies if its hard to understand.

At the moment, values in column B-D are being selected using a drop down menu. However, I want the drop down menu in column C to contain values for selection depending on what value has been selected in column B of the same row.

eg: If i select "BAAA" for "Cat 1" for a product, I dont want "AABA" to show up as an option for that product in Cat 2. I would want to select "Hot Drink" or "Cold Drink" for Cat 2 if Cat 1 is "Drink", but if Cat 1 is "Food" then I dont want those to be options, but I want to be able to select from a different list.

Apologies if this should be on a different board, I'm not sure quite how the solution would work (can be done with forumlas or will need VBA) so i put it here!

    Thanks in advance.

Have a look here: Dependent Lists
Where there is a will there are many ways.

Thanks, worked up to about the third dependant box but then for some reason stopped working. This should be a suitable solution though. Thanks.

I am not aware of any limitations, besides memory. Are you sure you did that one that didn't work correctly?

You can post a sample workbook for us to check for possible error or limitation.
