Question Average IF MOD - Stuck?

    Hi,

Trying to design a student grade / level sheet for my school department.

Basically need to average results from every other coloumn across a row, but need to find from two alternate coloumns and combination. Thought I had it but now given up.

Could some kind soul check attached and correct my Array Formula from cell O4, P4 and Q4 have spun myself into a knot over this, it should be so simple!

    Appreciate any help

    Thanks

    Dave

    =AVERAGE(IF(MOD(COLUMN(C4:N4),2)=1,IF(C4:N4<>0,C4:N4)))

    Almost

    Thanks Jason,

    I can see how this works;

But I only want to average the 3-6 cells, then the 5-7 cells and then the average of all the cells 3-6 and 5-7 together each in the last coresponding coloumns as labelled, I don't want to include the % which seems to be the problem. I think I need a Nth number average formula but can't seem to get it to skip % cells? I'm sure this is a simple problem, but wood for tress?

Sorry for lag in reply, time zone issues,

    Dave

Not sure about that. I learned a lot from trying to solve your problem. It certainly looks a lot simpler now!

    Smile Excellent!

Hey you get an A! Top Pass.

You came up with a solution I havn't looked into, I think I need to learn more about strings and IF / Averages, time to buy a book. I think I was using the wrong approach,

Thank you very much, this does exactly what I needed,

    I owe you
