How to make an if/and function examine range and return

    Hello,

I am using the following currently.

    =IF(B54="s",0,IF(AND(B54="y",B55="s"),AG54+AE54+AC54+AA54+Y54+W54+U54+T54+S54+AG55+AE55+AC55+AA55+Y55+W55+U55+T55+S55,AG54+AE54+AC54+AA54+Y54+W54+U54+T54+S54))

What this does is look at the cell in column B and the next lower cell in column b and if the lower cell is "s" then .... What I would like to do is have this work for multiple cells. The s designates an item as subordinate and some items have no subordinates, some may have 1 subordinate and other items may have many subordinates. The formula currently handles 0 or 1 subordinate. Any ideas on how to make it look for all "s" items but stop when a "y" is inserted?

    Thanks for any help.
    Mark

We need a bit more information on this before an answer can be provided. It's impossible to tell from your question what cells are needed to be added together. Can you post a sample and include the answer you are trying to obtain.
