[SOLVED] Formula to insert a check mark

    Hey, i'm an excel newbie.

My question is does anyone know if there is a formula to insert a check mark into a cell?

The user should be able to hit the spacebar or another key to insert the check mark. Anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks

    Hello excel newbie,

Can't think why you would want this, but try this, select cell B2, Press the ALT key and at the same time 0252 on the numerical keypad (Alt+0252). Format that cell to Wingdings size 16. You will see a tick in B2. With B2 selected, go to Format > Conditional Formatting, see screenshot and enter the formula shown, click the Format button and select White - OK. The tick has now disappeared. Click A1, press the spacebar+enter, hey presto tick re-appearers.
