    Data matching

Let me first by saying, this forum is quality.

I'm involved in a lot of the data management for the transfer from system to system at a business.

I have a stocklist (item number, location, batch num, qty) - Unique key would be the item numbers but can arise twice due to seperate batches of the same item.

I have a query from the Item master file (I can add fields), which is essentially everything with openening balance > 0. (item number, description, openening balance <-system QTY on hand at stocktake)

How could I arrange the data so that on the same line, the fields add themselves so that.
Stocktake: Item Number, location, batch, qty + IIM fields for that item number : Item number, Description, Opening Balance.

Given that, there will be items in the Item Master that won't be on the stocktake. (and would be nice if isolated)

From your description, I'm guessing that you might be able to take advantage of the VLOOKUP function. Have a look at this in Excel help and see if you can use it using the item number as your lookup value.
