    Vlookup

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, and I apologize in advance if I have made error. I am, however, very much in need of assistance. I'm trying to solve a problem on a spreadsheet and it's beating me, which I hate to admit. Here is the issue:

The purpose of this is to calculate the membership level of someone in a group and determine how much 'work' they have left to advance. The workbook has two sheets. One sheet 1 is a field in which the current level is input. There is also a field where the current amount of 'work' done is input (numerical). Sheet two basically has a list of of the levels and how much total 'work' is needed to reach that level.

Back on sheet one is yet another field that subtracts the work done from the required to determine how much the individual needs to advance. The basic math I have worked out, what is stumping me is how to I get the function to know what criteria it needs? What I mean is if I input, say, level 10 on sheet 1, how can I get the math formula to know to look at level 11 on sheet 2? Is it even possible?

I would so greatly appreciate any assistance in this.

Can you post a zipped sample of your file?

Absolutely, I should have done that. Here is the file, though it's really basic at the moment. Thanks for looking at it.

Use a VLookup with +1 added to the level

    Hope this helps:

Thank you very much. I was trying all kinds of crazy nested functions that just weren't working. I greatly appreciate it.
