    How to get data according to the current date

    Hi,

    I have a big table that contains some data sorted by the year quarters. And now I want to create a new, smaller table that fetches the data from the big table and displays it automatically according to the current date.

    Say, today is May 10, so it should fetch and show the data for the 2nd quarter. And If I open the workbook on July 5, the small table should show the data for the 3rd quarter.

    Is it possible to implement it with Excel functions? If it is, what's the way for that?

    Thanks a lot in advance!

    Hi

    Here's one way to convert the date to a quarter.

    =CHOOSE(MONTH(NOW()),1,1,1,2,2,2,3,3,3,4,4,4)

    The rest of it really depends on how / where your data is set up. There are various ways, either using a macro or formulas to bring it back. Would have to know more about the setup to give you much more detail.

    Well, my big table contains lists of employees divided by quarters and their sums for each quarter. But quarter is not really a key thing since I can divide employees on the monthly or, say, weekly basis.

    My question is how to display the number of employees in the small table acording to the current date: for May 10 it shoul fetch the proper number of employees from the 2nd quarter (or May) column of the big table every time I open a workbook containig those 2 tables.
