    Question Dragging Problem

My Excel has gone a bit off the rails!

    e.g. I have a cells with:
    (A1) 'Hours Worked' (variable)
    (Z1) 'Hourly Rate' (Fixed)
    (C1) 'Total To Invoice' (variable)

My formula was: C1 =A1*B1 ...easy hey!
The problem is that when I try to drag the cell C1 down (to copy the formula) it doesnt simply update... I get C2 =A2*Z2 instead of C2 =A2*Z1

I have tried holding down ctrl (or not) etc.
the other thing I have noticed is that when I try to make a cell copy another one I get the formula and not the value.

    Thanks
