    Drop down lists

Thanks to this wonderful forum I have conditional drop downs that display the list when the cell is tabbed onto. I am able to use the arrow keys to select the item I need on the list. However, is it possible to have the correct item auto-select by typing in the first letter of the word?

Auto-complete will work for a second, third, or Nth drop-down in the same column, but not for the first.

For example, if you have a data validation drop-down box (which is what I believe you're discussing) in A1 and you type or select the word "carrot" from the list, then go to A2 and type the letter C, Excel will suggest using carrot again. It does this due to the option (Tools -> Options -> Edit) called "Enable Auto-Complete for Cell values".

Comboboxes, like those created from the Controls Toolbox, will auto-suggest after typing each letter, so when you type C, carrot would be suggested right away, whether it's your first combobox or tenth.
