function/formula question

I recieve a report every 2months that can be easily put into excel. the report contains 3 columns. the first column has a random number every 30 or so rows. I would like to create a formula that will take the number and autofill it to the next number, then take that number and autofill it to the next number and so on.

example

1 blah blah
blah blah
blah blah
2 meh meh
meh meh
3 bleh bleh
bleh bleh

I presume your data has blanks underneath the numbers like this:

1) Select column A
2) Press CTRL-G
3) Select special->blanks
4) Type =A1 and press CTRL-ENTER

Your data will now look like this:

You may want to select column A and do the following:
1) Edit->Copy
2) Edit->paste special->values

The above will assist if you plan on doing any sorting.
