Unhappy My dates won't sort correctly?

One of my columns has dates in this fashion (btw, I did not create this one)
    JUN 25 2007 4:30
    JUN 2 2007 6:30

So you can see how the 25 and the two each have two spaces after, and that makes the year and time not line up. Is this why I can't sort this thing by date? It sorts, but not in correct order. Can anyone help?

If I copy/paste your 2 dates in my Excel sheet and sort, I get the June 2 date first...is this not what you're getting?

Please attach a sample spreadsheet (zipped) and specify how you want it sorted....
Where there is a will there are many ways.

    I couldn't load the spreadsheet??

I would like to sort first by date and then by state if possible. Sorry I was out for an unexpected meeting......
Now I can't load it. It is an excel file but I'm told it is invalid. Should I save as text file? I see that is an option. So sorry, I'm new to this chat and not the most savvy excel person but trying.

You should zip it first with a zipping software like WinZip.

    See attached.

What I had to do was add a column (Column K) with a formula to convert your dates into Excel recognized dates, eliminating spaces, adding commas, and removing the time zones)...

then I sorted by column K and then by State....

You can copy column K and paste special >>> Values over your original column if you want and then deleted column K.... but then you will need to recreate the formula for your next set of data, if any.

    Hope this helped.
