Autofilter, status bar display

I am new to this forum. Hope you don't think this is a dumb question.

I am using Autofilters in my spreadsheet. One of the features I like about Autofilter is that, after I select an autofilter category, it displays the current number of records being shown at the bottom status bar of the screen (e.g. "118 of 1260 records found"). Two days ago my current spreadsheet was performing this way. However, after adding some additional data, and playing around with "Subtotals", my spreadsheet stopped doing this, and now simply displays "Filter mode" in the bottom status bar when I select an autofilter category.

I am at my wits end trying to figure out what option to select to get these feature to be re-turned on.

Can anyone help?

Thank you for the quick reply. I removed the formulas from the list as the link suggests, and it works just fine now. The work arounds look promising also.
