Entering data from a predefined list

    Hello

I need to produce a spreadsheet where approximately ten columns are populated. What I want to do for each column is predefine the variables which can be entered so that the person inputting selects from a drop-down menu.

So for example, column A would be called "person" and I want to pre-define the choices "alan", "billy", "charles" so that the inputter can only select one of these. Column B would be called product and the choices would be limited to "product A", "product B" etc

What is the best way of doing this?

    Many thanks.

Go to Data|Validation and select List from the Allow dropdown and in the Source field you can enter your options separted by commas or you can enter a range containing the options.

Click Ok to finish and repeat for each drop down you want to make.
Where there is a will there are many ways.

Many thanks, that will certainly do the trick. One further question if I may - because the spreadsheet will be wide I was wondering whether you can produce one form with all the variables and drop downs, so that when you click enter it clears and you can enter the next line.

    Thanks.
