    gettings months from date range

Hi all, I'm new here - but hopeful of some help

I can't find anything like this on the internet or from a search on this forum, so hope it is actually achievable in excel.

Basically i have a fictional project. it's a loan service. I recieve a report which documents when a product is loaned out from a 'start date' and when it's due to be recieved back 'end date'. It's just basically 2 dates. Because its a pre processed report - i want the next bit to be all automated.

From this i want to find out which months the product has been loaned out for, but am unsure of how to do this (please see attached excel file).

i have all the start and finish dates down the left, and then to the right, a list of months across the top. In the corresponding cells I just want it to display a 'yes' if that specific month falls within the date range. (e.g. the product is out on loan in that specific month).

From this i can then tell how many units are out in any given month.
I've no idea how to achieve this, so if you can give me any formulas which would work this out i'd be very grateful!

Hope you understand what i'm trying to achieve.

    Thanks in advance!
