I am working on a sheet that will contain short diary entries for a number of organisations. This sheet will give a global view of organisation activity for the year. The sheet will be fed by the separate organisations themselves and migrated to form a global view.

I need to restrict the amount of information each user can input for fear of overwhelming the system.

Is there a process similar to the "fill-in" command in MS Word that will prompt the user to input a free-text answer when they click on a cell?

Taking this one step further: Can I create a system that will ask which cell the user wishes to enter information but refer to each cell as an "X" and "Y" (date and organisation) rather than "A-1"?
