refrence a cell from one sheet to another issue

    I have used this formula ='`Booking Form`'!K28
To refrence a cell from one sheet to another in the same workbook
However when I use this formula ='`Booking Form`'!E8 to do the same (different cells)
    I get this result #NAME?

can someone help me with what I doing wrong. As far as I can see the formula is correct as the only difference is the cell references.

    thanks

E8 is a persons name and it is in merged cells, E8 is left-most cell in the merged cells.

What I am trying to do is auto transfer the name /address from the booking form to an invoice (both excel) which I send when they have made deposits and final payments.

Nope didnt work, it comes up with update values form but not sure what to put in this?
From the dropdown menu I went to desktop (where file is located) clicked on that then on the `booking form` icon, pressed ok.
Then got a box to select sheet, clicked on `booking form` then ok.
Then I got #NAME? appearing in the cell.

I did get the copy/paste to work but as I use this as a booking form/Invoice it would be quite a cumbersome method of doing this.

    thanks though

If it works that means something wrong with your formula. Something like a extra space maybe

I dont think its the formula as I tried a copy/paste from one (a cell) that does work and just changed the cell number and still it wont work.

I also from an old excel book I had tried, selecting cell directly on other sheet....dragging through to the cell I want reference in. This shows #VALUE! and the formula bar shows =Invoice!E8:G8

Dont understand what it means but it dont work.

Linking cells should be one cell at a time. So

    =Invoice!E8:G8

Will give a error. Try just

    =Invoice!E8

You have a workaround so guess that will have to do. As I mention 1 cell can't ref more than 1 when linking

    Other options.....

Start a new spreadsheet to see if that resolved the problem

I will try your link and see how that goes. Out of interest I copied and pasted the `other` worksheet in to the same worksheet and just used =`E8`and others and that worked ok after I formatted the cells to general.
It does mean though that I have both forms in the same sheet. But it maybe an answer. With that working it would appear that the reference to the other sheet is causing the problem for some reason.
