Generic value for "date"

Hi

I know this is being very lazy because it must be very obvious - but because of that I think someone will be able to answer it very quicklly....

Building a formula of nested IFs to display one of three possible results:

The three values are:

n/a
0
a date

I want the cell to show one of three possible restults - here is what I've got:

=IF(L6="n/a","n/a",IF(L6=0,"Not Received", IF(L6=DATE,L6)))

But as you will notice, I don't how to get it to show whatever the date is if its a date in L6 - what is the default value for date so that if it sees any date it displays the required result?

There is no absolute function for determining if a cell has a date in it....

Excel sees dates as numbers, so you can check if the cell has a number other than 0 or you can use a date range to ensure the value is a "reasonable" date.
