IF statements and their alternatives

I have a schedule that is a 4 X 16 matrix. What I want to accomplish is that when, on another worksheet, I put in a value (matching a value from a column in the matrix) from one column, then another cell displays (from another column in the same matrix) the appropriate cell. Obviously, this would be a statement with more than 7 conditions. Is there another option?
