    Multiplying cells

    Hi,

I was wondering if someone here can help me...I've got a spreadsheet with two columns of data (A and B) on it. I want to create a third column filled with the product of the data in A and B in it (ie. A1 x B1, A2 x B2 and so on). How do I do this? I haven't used excel in a long time and it'll take me forever to do it all by hand as there are over 50 sets of data...

I also need to know how to apply a function to all the cells in one column - specifically how to do the log of all the data....

Thank you to anyone who can help!

    Hi glitterstorm,

    put this formula on C1:
    =A1 * B1

you can copy the formula down, excel automatically adjust cell references

    where:

A1,B1 are the cell address, A1 -> A = column heading, 1 = row heading and so on...

    * = Arithmetic operator in excel which return the product of multiplied numbers
