    Counting By Date

So, here's what I'm trying to do:

In the "Log" tab, we'll be tracking contacts by date. In the "Admissions" column in the "Census" tab, I'm looking to create a formula that will count the number of lines with "Yes" in column K ("Admit") by date. (i.e. - the number of "Yes" entries in column K for 01/01/08, then for 01/02/08, and so on). I know I could do this with a DCOUNTA formula, but the task of creating 366 criteria lines for a DCOUNTA formla just seems extreme. So, is there an equation that allows to count information by date?

    Welcome to the board,
depending on waht you want as final result, a Pivot Table might be an option

Thought about a PivotTable. I know that it would definitely sum up the data in that particular field. The fly in the ointment is that I need to take that number in column B on the "Census" tab, add it to the number that will be in column A, subtract that sum from the number that will be in column C, to yield the number in column D. I'm not sure if I could add all that tracking and custom calculation into a PivotTable smoothly, so my thought process was to look for a formula that would successfully track the number.

The best option is probably sumproduct, as this will allow you to evaluate multiple criteria at once.
