    Unhappy Vlookup style function...

    Hi guys,
Bear with me if I make any forum faux pas, first post and all!
But yeah... basically... I appear to have a slightly unique issue...
I have a set of data that I need to extract certain elements from,
I have Account Reference, Charge, Read Type and Read Date as cols A B C and D.
The account references are often repeated as there could be a different read type, different date or just a charge.
The report is on a separate sheet and I need to find a list of all the different read types and latest dates for each acc ref (i.e. each acc ref has one row, cols are A= Acc Ref and B/C/D/E= read types, the data is the latest read dates)... vlookup won't cut the mustard as it will only return the first instance of each acc ref.
I've tried using if's and also tried pivot tables, but these all seem long winded (like this post!)...
I can't get my head around how I could use an index/match/array as I'm not experienced with these... Help!

    Thanks,

    Gareth

    Hi,

Maybe it will better if you attach a sample excel file and the expected results.

Take a look at the attachment

    garethb,

I think this is what you want. Take a look at the attachment and see if that will get you started. If not let us know or maybe post a zip of the sample of your data and we can go from there. The formulae used are Array formulae and must be confirmed with CTRL-Shift-Enter.

    See ya,
