protecting worksheet with drop dowm lists

How do I protect a worksheet with drop down list in the cells? I have built a worksheet that will be used for staffing. When you click on the cell, it has a drop down list of personnel. You go cell to cell building the staffing roster.

The problem is when I set to protection on, when you select from the drop down list, you are not allowed to make changes.

I want the user to be able to select from the list, save the changes and be able to print and e-mail the worksheet. What I don't want the user to do is delete the cell or alter the format.

What am I missing? I am sure there is a way....

    Thanks

    Sgt Paul

    VBA Noob,

Thanks for the info and reply. My data for the drop down is on another sheet in the workbook so I am not able to use the work around.... I greatly appreciate you response.

    Sgt Paul.

BTW, once again the forum has prove to be a great tool for us amateurs.
