Red face Displaying Multiple items in Excel

    Hi,

I have a sheet1 in excel with the details of student and his subjects.

    Name Subject
    A HR
    B Marketing
    A Finance
    A International Business

In sheet 2, I have the name of the student. I want to display all the subject of his in one go. For instance, if I enter the name "A" in sheet 2, it shows all the subject ("HR", "Finance", "International Business").

Facing trouble with this. Could anyone help on this.

    Regards,

    hi,

If you are happy using VBA code, there's a useful User Defined Function (UDF) known as mvlookup which can do what you want - a few useful links are below.
If you would rather only use formulae it can still be done (with the results in separate cells) but I don't have any examples with me at this computer - can you please let us know if you want a formula only solution?

(this may be the best one for you as it talks about all the results in a single cell separated by commas or spanning multiple cells)

You could also have a look at the pages listed on the below Google search:

If you are not used to macros but would like to try the UDF approach, have a look at Dave's page:
