    Red face sumif or sumproduct

I am trying to get a total, but I have two criteria's. Have looked at sumif and sumproduct, but I can't seem to get either to work.

I need to get a total of column P if column c is 2008 and column j is FIMS.

I have done a sumif if column j equals FIMS, but it give me a total of every year.

I have done sumproduct SUMPRODUCT(($C:$C=2008)*($J:$J="FIMS")*($P:$P)) and it gives me #num.

What am I doing wrong? I don't know sumproduct very well.

If you are on a version before Excel 2007, then you cannot use whole column references in the Sumproduct formula. You must define a range and all ranges must be equal in height.
Where there is a will there are many ways.
