    multiplying a cell by another which contains a formula

    Hello,
    I have a problem in excel that's just driving me nuts.
    Can anyone explain this:

    ok...
    all of these are "number" format cells

    d29 = 24428.15
    d30 = 97.00
    d31 = d29/d30 (this comes out to be 251.84 on my spreadsheet)

    i then have d34 = 31.00
    and
    d35 = d31*d34 (this is where i'm getting incorrect number)

    d35 should be coming out to 7807.04
    but it's coming out to 7806.93 ????

    i can't figureee it outtt ??

    any advice will be greatly appreciated

    thanks
    aaron

    I don't understand your issue. D31 and D35 have the same formula, how are you getting different numbers for them? Also, why have the same formula in two different cells?

    I assume you meant the formula in D35 is =D31*D34, correct?

    Well you division formula D29/D30 does not give exactly 251.84... it gives something like 231.8365979 ... you probably have the cell formatted to show 2 decimals.

    That's why the multiplied result comes out the way it does...and not the way you think it should be.

    If you need the 7807.4 result, you need to change formula in D31 to =ROUND(D29/D30,2)
    Where there is a will there are many ways.
