Use a function in a chart range so it doesn't include a cell if blank?

I have a chart thats pulling from categories a,b,c, and d. but sometimes they are blank, which presents a problem in trying to create a chart. I need it to be completely automated, so i can't change the range every time. My idea was to put an IF function in the 'select data' part when creating the chart so that if the cell was blank (="") then to not include it.

any ideas on how to go about doing this?

    Hi,

    Try something like

=IF(Data="",N/A,Data) Data is your data range, if it is blank the points will not get plotted
