Importing a large amount of data

Wondering if someone could help me with importing a large amount of data into a worksheet .. I've about 1.5 million pieces of data (telephone numbers) to import from notepad .. is it possible to spread the data over different columns or worksheets?

Is the txt file delimited in anyway (ie comma, tab, or ~) between each set of data? Out of the 1.8 million parts of data, how much/many column vs. row?

I am not an excel guru, but might be able to help.
