    Not sure if this is beyond Excel or not?

    My goal is to get the file where everytime you open it, it compares the current date to the date within that particular cell. For example if cell B2's due date is 05/13/08 and you open the file on 05/14/08, it would automatically turn cell B2 red. Is this even possible in Excel?

    I really do appreciate any information anyone can offer.

    You can use conditional formatting for this.

    Assuming your "trigger date" [e.g. 1/1/2009] is in cell A1 then select cell to be highlighted, i.e. B2, and use

    Format > Conditional formatting > "formula is"

    =TODAY()>=$A$1

    select red format, OK
